Liberal Media

(1999) for flute, viola, and bass. 8 minutes.
Commissioned by the Madison Chapter of the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers.

Liberal \Lib"er*al\ adj. 1. more than sufficient; abundant; ample; profuse; as, a liberal gift; a liberal discharge of matter. 2. Not strict or rigorous; not confined or restricted to the literal sense.

Media \Me"di*a\ n. transmissions that are disseminated widely to the public.

Liberal Media has no political axe to grind. It simply borrows freely from many different kinds of music and stirs it all into a kind of information overload scherzo, with a difficult viola part. Liberal Media will not tell you anything useful about the nation's political climate. Liberal Media will not make you a lot of money with tiny classified ads. Liberal Media will not give you a great aerobic workout, unless you play the viola.

Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure Statement: Liberal Media does not use any date-related functions and is therefore expected to be fully Y2K compliant. During testing, Liberal Media demonstrated some nasty page turns, but no problems related to century or leap year dates.
